Canadian photographer Bernard Clark has become one of the most high profile photographers in the world of tattooing. He began shooting portraits of individuals who collected skin art in 1996. These images have been exhibited in several galleries and received critical reviews and exposure in national newspapers, prominent art publications and major photography magazines. Since May 1999, Bernard has been a regular photographer for Los Angeles based tattoo magazine 'Skin & Ink'. Editor Bob Baxter has entrusted Clark to photograph major stories and conventions in Toronto, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles and New York. Recently Clark and Baxter visited tropical Samoa, in the South Pacific, to prepare an article for 'Skin & Ink' and to produce a hardcover book on the island and it's Polynesian tattooing. The pair travelled for two weeks documenting the people, the landscape and the artists who hand tap the traditional Samoan pe'a. The book "Two Weeks in Samoa" is now available through www.bernardclark.com The images presented in this gallery, are
just a small sample from the immense archives of Bernard Clark. ALL IMAGES in this GALLERY ARE COPYRIGHT © Bernard Clark Photography ALL RIGHTS RESERVED |
