Andrew Adrian Garcia (born October 8, 1985) is an American singer from Moreno Valley, California who was the ninth place finalist on the ninth season of American Idol.
Garcia was born in Moreno Valley, California. He is of Mexican descent. He began singing between 5 and 6 years before being on American Idol. He is known as the "Backdoor Bandit" in his childhood neighborhood. Garcia is also a breakdancer. Prior to his American Idol stardom, Andrew Garcia was a YouTube celebrity, Andrew had more than 30,000 subscribers on his account. With videos reaching millions of views Andrew would upload videos of himself singing acoustic songs for fans to enjoy. He has since removed the videos, due to American Idol, the only presence of Andrew on YouTube are his collaborations with other artists.
Garcia's girlfriend, Christine Concepcion, a Filipina descent, also a celebrity on Youtube. Andrew has a son, Caelin with her. Garcia has a tattoo of his son's name, Caeland, on the side of his neck. He is also close friends with major Youtube celebrity, AJ Rafael.
Garcia auditioned for the ninth season in Pasadena, California. He sang "Sunday Morning" there and was praised by all the judges, notably Simon Cowell, who called him a "genuinely good singer," as well as guest judge Katy Perry. He later appeared in Hollywood, where he sang Paula Abdul's song "Straight Up" and since has been particularly known for that performance. Andrew could well be the first in American Idol's history to cause internet buzz while not being on the show. Fans of Andrew started an internet buzz after seeing a preview for his audition.
