Sophie Charlene Akland Monk (born 14 December 1979) in England, Sophie Monk was raised in Australia. She was training to be an opera singer when in 1999, she decided to audition for a new reality series called Popstars. Along with five other contestants, she made the final cut. Calling themselves Bardot, the newly formed group’s debut album went multiple platinum.
In 2000, they decided to disband and go their separate ways. Sophie embarked on a solo career, releasing a hit single and taking on modeling jobs. She made her acting debut playing Marilyn Monroe in the ABC-TV miniseries The Mystery of Natalie Wood (2004), filmed in Australia. She then secured a Hollywood agent and moved to Los Angeles, where she scored a lead role in the romantic movie spoof Date Movie (2006). She’s since wrapped another role in Click (2006), starring Adam Sandler and Christopher Walken.
