Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin September 22, 1958) is an American rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and actress.

She is best known for her work with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts including their hit cover "I Love Rock N' Roll", which was #1 on the Billboard charts from March 20 to May 1, 1982, as well as for their other popular recordings including "Crimson and Clover", "I Hate Myself for Loving You", "Do You Want to Touch Me", "Light of Day", "Love Is All Around", "Bad Reputation" and "Little Liar."

Joan Jett is a rocker. First and foremost. And as a rocker she’s the bearer of those sacred badges that so many other rockers through the years have carried: tattoos. Here’s a list of the symbols that grace her skin these days.

1.) A symbol on the back of her neck, somewhat resembling Japanese kanji.

2.) An inverted triangle on her left arm, surrounded on both sides by an intertwining bracelet-esque design.

3.) A jet (pretty fitting, that) just below her belly on the left side; not normally visible.

4.) A spiralling tattoo on her left forearm.

5.) And, finally, another sort of inverted triangle situated just above and between her breasts.

"The triangle on my chest represents the divinity of myself and others. The band around my arm represents the creative essence of life in a swirl of positive and negative forces." - Joan Jett explaining the symbolism of two of her tattoos.
